Poppies Returning to Tower of London

I saw this today from Historic Royal Palaces.
The poppies that were displayed in 2014 to mark the 100th Anniversary of WWI are returning to the Tower of London this year to mark the 80th anniversary of the end of WWII

If you're planning a trip to London this year, you might want to add this to your to-do/to-see list.

Oh gosh...I saw these in 2014 and they were stunning! I thought the originals were all sold off but it seems not. Yes, for sure people should go see this!

Thanks for posting!

Normally they are on display at IWM North at Salford Quays, Manchester where they cascade down one of the external air vents. The other 850,000 or so were sold and are now scattered round the country although at least one is in the reserve collections at IWM in Lambeth as well.

I saw them when they came to Lincoln Castle. It was only a fraction of the number at the Tower of London but was still a wonderful sight.

I saw them in late September 2014 and I agree with Pam that they were stunning. We will be back in London in November and had no plans to visit The Tower this trip, but now I know we will have to stop by to take a look. Thank you for sharing this.

Fantastic. I haven’t been to the tower in years but 5his makes for a good reason to go back!

they will only be through Remembrance Day, the 11th of the 11th.

They will be inside the walls, not in the Moat, and very few will be visible from outside...

Nigel, are you saying it won’t be like it was in 2014? If we have to go into the tower we probably won’t bother since we were there a few years ago. We don’t arrive in London until November 10 so we would have to go right away anyway.

As I understand it, it’s only a part of the original, stunning and moving, display. It has to be as we bought three of the originals, two as gifts and one of which we kept.
