PLUSBUS pick up tickets at Manchester Piccadilly Station

Hi All,

i plan to buy online Plusbus tix in conjunction with my train ticket from Manchester to Liverpool.

The online confirmation booking has to be exchanged with an actual tix and I opt for self pick up in the station. Could I do that on the red tix machine in Manchester Piccadilly station?

here is the plan of the station, there are some red tix machines around Tix office and one just next to Virgin travel.

When you pick up your tickets, whether at a ticket machine or at a ticket counter, you'll get a small handful of little orange cards, each the size of a credit card. One of them will be your PlusBus ticket. It works the same as a bus day pass: Just show it to the driver each time you board a bus.

The other cards will be things like the actual ticket (or tickets, plural, if you've booked a round-trip), your seat reservations for those legs where you need them, and the purchase receipt. Make sure you collect all of them and don't leave any behind.

Hi khbuzzard,

i wasn't aware i also need to exchange the train online confirmation with an actual tix. thanks so much for your info. i guess with that many tix, i'd rather doing it in the counter so as not to miss anything ie. seating coupons, return tix etc.

cheers

That's right, the confirmation email you got when you booked the tickets is not the ticket itself - you need to use the confirmation code to collect the tickets at the station when you get there. To prove that it's you (and not somebody else who stole your confirmation email), you need to have the credit card that you used to purchase the tickets, so make sure you to bring that card with you. (It's OK if the card doesn't have a chip or a PIN - American-style magnetic-stripe cards work just fine.)

It's really not difficult to collect tickets using the machine. The machine will tell you when it's done printing the tickets (and maybe even how many of them there are in total). You just need to know not to grab the tickets and walk away prematurely before they're all done printing.

Hi khbuzzard,

I just look at my online tix confirmation and my seats are not allocated yet. I have chosen seating preferences but there might be none left according to my preferences. It's advance , non-changeable and timed tickets type.

They are for both my Oxford - Manchester and Manchester - Liverpool (return tix). On my Manchester - Liverpool (return tix), i was notified with a message alert before confirming the online booking that there's no allocated seatings left and asked to buy the tix on spot and choose my seat from there. Strangely it still allowed me to confirm the online purchase so it does not seem that the tix is sold out.

Without the seating allocation, would I stil get seating coupons printed out during my pick up tix? Also would there be a chance I could not board the Manchester Liverpool train due to the alert I got during the online booking?
