please rate my london budget hotel options

I'm planning to visit London this march 27-april 6. (flights arrive the following day 28) This will be my second time in London however last spring I had horrible jet lag and didnt get to see alot. I'm interested in staying "near" stations with multi lines.... earls court/kings cross but flexible on that. I'm travelling from Vancouver Canada. Here are my favorite options so far since they average $2200 CAD including air.

Tune Hotel Kings Cross
Mstay Hyde Park
Hyde park boutique
Lancaster Gate Hotel
Commodore Hotel

I looked at older posts and checked the lime and premier which seem over my budget and not available in package deals for me.

Thanks so much :)
oh i'm travelling solo, tiny room is expected, ensuite required breakfast and wifi a plus (if booked seperately my hotel budget is around $1200) if you have any tips for me THX

It might be good to check tripadvisor reviews for the hotels u list.

I had a list 4 times as long and this is the short list after trip advisor and expedia reviews :) Good idea to narrow down further so I just deleted those last hotels I mentioned on my original post

I can recommend the Jesmond Dene on Argyle, a block or 2 from Kings Cross - I've stayed there many times... its small family run and more of a B&B.
Location is perfect for me.... I always walk from there to the British Museum and other spots.
PS if you pay cash here, you get a bit of a discount too.

So are you convinced a package is the way to go.. ?

A room for seven nights at a hotel we have stayed at twice.. private bathroom and a very good breakfast included , is 959 dollars ( 83 gbps per night)

Airfare from Vancouver on various airlines I have got 886 on American , to 1040 on Air Canada or Luthansa .

So you could go cheaper than your package.

The Celtic hotel is right by Russell Square.. family run, clean and quirky , good cooked to order breakfast each morning.. and I priced out the single room with private bathroom.. they have cheaper ones even. Walk to British Museum.. close to tubes and buses..

Thank you for these options! I'm open to booking separately it's just the original ones I mentioned work out cheaper on Expedia rather than the hotel website. Will look at these tomorrow!

Do you have to book a package?

Have you checked all the premier inns in the centre of London? They have ensuite + wifi included. They really have a good product and I would always pay a bit more to stay here rather than an unknown (which may be great, of course).

I knew I would get some great food for thought and ideas!!! Got a quote from the celtic 87gbp/night and i'm impressed with the premier inn reviews!!!! Sounds like the next thing I need to decide is weather to stay near Russel Square or Earls Court

ETA Earls Court it is. Next time will be Russel Square area :)

If I'm staying in a questionable, low budget place, I rely on reviews.
If the complainers are complaining about things I don't care about then I'll stay. If I care about those things, then I wont!

I highly recommend Lancaster Gate Hotel. We have stayed there a number of times and will be again this June. They have single rates. All the rooms are the smae with 2 twin beds and bathroom. They have a very nice buffet breakfast. Hotel is located north of Hyde Park and in between Paddington station and Lancaster Gate station. I think you will like it.

Cherry Court Hotel near Victoria Train and bus stations: http://www.cherrycourthotel.co.uk/our-rates/ 65 British Pounds per night for a single. Can't beat it. I've stayed here many times with family and alone. This is a safe and clean small family owned hotel...with lovely hotel owners.

thanks acraven about the Lancaster Gate station being closed. We will be there in June and would have planned to use it a few times. Will use Paddington instead. Thanks again.

I second the recommendation of the Cherry Court near Victoria Station. The rooms are tiny but fine for one person. Clean and safe. They will even do your laundry if needed for a small charge.

I have found the Darlington Hyde Park Hotel near Paddington to be fine hotel for single travel. On Hotels.com it is $131 US per night. You might get a better rate if you book through them, they have a nice full breakfast, en-suite, free WiFi, tea tray, small frig in room (good for keeping food when you don't want to eat out) in room safe and I find it is a very good location easy walk to Hyde Park, Lancaster Gate tube, and felt safe in the area while traveling single at night.
