places to eat near Kew or Hampton Palace?

Hi all,

The forum is full of so many seasoned and thoughtful travelers. I'd like to lean on you for a suggestion about a place to get a meal either near Kew gardens (we have tickets for the illuminations at 8!) or Hampton Palace which we're hoping to visit before we go there. We love great food, will pay more and go out of our way (within reason) given a special enough meal but also are happy with funky cheap interesting, still good, places to eat. Thanks in advance!

Couple of thoughts near Kew;

The Dragon Inn ( opens at 6pm, reservations) on Sheen Road. Excellent food. Another favorite spot
( mostly because of Sadie the pub dog) with a simple menu of tasty pizzas and salads, The Mitre on St Marys Axe.

You could also try the Angel and the Crown pub in the Crown Alley in Richmond. 25 minute stroll from there to Kew.

The street between the tube station and Kew Gardens has several restaurants. If this is for Christmas at Kew, they do have food court areas with food trucks once you are in.

just leave enough room for some of the treats as you walk round Kew. As you start there is a food court of sorts and then spaced fairly evenly there are at least 2 or perhaps 3 more with lovely warming scrummy (but not cheap) things. When I went we hadn't had dinner (not for want of trying but traffic was awful around Barnes Bridge where we had hoped to graze) but the grazing was good as we walked around the illuminations. We were quite full going home.

It was great fun.

Hampton Court Palace has a very tasty Tiltyard Café https://www.hrp.org.uk/hampton-court-palace/visit/eating/#gs.08ouvf

Not fancy, tasty.

After visiting Hampton Court Palace we had Sunday roast at The Mute Swan. The place was packed. We enjoyed the meal.
