Place to stay 4 adults 4 children

We will be in London for nine days the first part of June. We are 4 adults and children 12,10,7 and 9 months. Currently I have the Marriott Grosvenor square hotel for 4 nights ( using points). Is this a good area for buses/subway. Any suggestions for the other 4 nights. I was thinking of ditching the hotel and renting a small apartment/ condo. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

I was in London in September for a week and while we stayed in Covent Garden and didn't go near where you're staying, I can say though, that the London transit system is the best I've ever experienced. The Bond Street tub station looks to be about a 3-4 minute walk from your hotel (according to google maps) and you can zip around London and transfer easily via the Tube. For example, you could get from your hotel to the Tower of London in less than half an hour by taking the Tube from Bond Street and then transferring at Westminster Station. If it was me, I wouldn't concern myself with transportation issues but make sure the hotel is in a location you'll be happy with in terms of family restaurants and things to do in your neighborhood at the end of a busy day.

An apartment will surely be a nice option after the hotel. Gives you a chance to spread out, maybe cook a little or at least do take-out. Try www.LondonConnection.com. We've used them many times.

We used London Connection as well and stayed in Covent Garden. I was really happy with the service they provided.

To me the pleasure of being able to breakfast in my own speed and my own choice of food, is enough to warrant an apartment - especially with children.

I am not sure if your children are 12, 10, and 7 years and 9 months or if all the numbers are in months, but if it is years, they will be able to make their own breakfast and enjoy it in front of the telly without disturbing you :-)

I think the four children are: 12 years old, 10 years old, 7 years old, and 9 months old. So that's three out of four who can get their own breakfast. :-)
