At present kids 10-17 holding passports of UK, EU and various others including USA, Canada, Aus and NZ can use the e-gates at passport control when accompanied by adult. This is being lowered to 8 years old subject to minimum height of 120cm/ 3ft 11 inches (the scanners won't go lower......). May save some queueing, still needs ETA
applies to all UK (sorry, but there isn't a whole UK forum!) and also UK passports controls which are "juxtaposed" at Eurostar terminals in Paris, Brussels etc... also some channel ferry ports.
