Parks in central London - best sections to walk in mid-September

Will be London for a week in mid-September and have the biggest chunk of daytime hours planned, but trying to keep flexible on which days to go where depending on weather, etc. Will probably have some days with a little extra time in late afternoon/early evening to walk around parks and neighborhoods. September will be a little late for most floral displays, and a little early for autumn colors. Which parks would be most scenic in September, and if we just have limited time before dark, what sections of these parks would you recommend?

I always enjoy walking through St. James Park no matter what the season. Then walk through the Horseguards Parade to Hungerford Bridge, cross on the pedestrian structure, and walk the Thames Path as far as you like ( to Tower Bridge if you have time).

September is my favorite time to be in London because of the month-long Thames Festival. you can search for events of interest during your stay here:
