Have stayed at the Park Plaza Sherlock Holmes, and it was a nice experience. I can't speak to the Park Plaza Westminster but as least as a company/franchise seems to be well-run. Enjoy your trip!

Not stayed there but its a new hotel in a good location, you'll hear Big Ben chime from there. It is in essence in the middle of a busy traffic roundabout though, and next to train tracks and a hospital. I imagine the hotel windows would block any noise when shut, but using the terrace may be a 'vibrant' experience. Considering you'll be there in December, not sure how much use you'd get from a terrace anyway.

Check out the place below, identical price to PPW on your dates, and in a much nicer location next to the Tower of London and Tower Bridge, lovely building, outstanding reviews.

Curious. In which city will you be spending Christmas?. If London be prepared for no public transport on that day. You should read posts about Christmas experiences in the other two cities as well. Be certain youve figured out how to get to each city and in order to save transit costs start booking your tickets for December travel as soon as possible. Also be sure to fly open jaw. Into one city and out the other. I'd start looking for 2bedroom apartment on Airbnb, instead of hotel suite with terrace. However, if you prefer hotels, shop around. Be certain the accommodation is located in transport zones 1 and 2 though.

Research, research, research.

Mini Cabs will still be working Xmas day, and possibly some Black Cabs. But unless you're just going for a walk, everything of consequence will be shut. There will be plenty of nice pubs open for Xmas Dinner, but they tend to be expensive on the day, and because mass catering, the food is not likely to knock your socks off. But if you drink enough, you won't care (always drink responsibly).

I'm there right now. We just arrived about 6 hours ago so I'm a bit toasted and we've only been here briefly, but I like the location. Step outside, walk a few steps, and the iconic views of Big Ben, the London Eye and everything else is right in your face. We just did a short stroll around the neighborhood and it feels like we're in the right place.

I cannot not hear ANY noise from the street in our room. In fact, right before I logged on here, I commented to my wife that the room seemed extremely quiet. I'm a very light sleeper and very easily annoyed by noise, and I expect to get an epic sleep in tonight.

I'm staying here on hotel points so I can't really say how good a value the place would be for a paid stay, but I'm confident we will enjoy our stay here.

Hope that helps.
