Ok, Rick Steves Travel Forum people, I have question number 85 I think to ask about my trip coming up in May. I am flying into London into Heathrow airport from Athens, flight leaving at 805, arriving in London at 1005 at Heathrow. My question is about making a visit to the Palace of Westminster the same day. Do you think I would be ok with getting my tickets for around 1600 or 400pm? Or would I be able to buy tickets day of?
Assuming your flight arrives on time, you should have plenty of time to make a 4pm visit. I can’t speak for May, but we were there in November and walked right up and got tickets (even though the online site said all times were sold out).
Would it be better to buy the tickets now?
Just a caution about May - that is a prime time for European school tours. On our trips in May, we've run into a number of school tours, so if you really want to see it, keep that in mind.
