Paddington Station was trickier than I had expected, but once you get off, and walk towards the side of the building where there's no wall, in the middle there are 2 places to buy lunch, and then off to the left (towards platform 12 is the place to check baggage. Off to the right is the area with the restaurants (towards platform 1) and cafe's, and the Paddington Gift shop, as well as the Paddington statue (near the McDonalds).

I attempted multiple times to get out of the building to the main street where I had been to some restaurants, but was unsuccessful. I believe the only real way to get out to the main streetwith a sidewalk is to go through the hotel.

I'd advise studying their floor plan maps VERY carefully. I would also recommend staying inside the station for lunch, and keeping it simple. Once of their exits is only for taxis, no way to walk around and get to the main road. The bus that goes TO Paddington station really doesn't, it really drops you off at a bridge on the side of the Paddington Tube Station, so going out and coming back could be complicated. Probably the only way to get a fancy lunch would be to eat in the hotel, the door's over on the right by platform 1. Since there's no wall in that back area, there are birds and drafts inside the station, kind of makes it hard to eat in some of the areas. Even way off by the gift shop, there were birds over by the benches. Was not my most favorite station, but eventually figured some of it out.
Have a great time in Bath, my daughter really liked it when she and a friend took a coach there.
Have fun,

How are you passing through Paddington. By train, by underground?

As noted there’s luggage storage by track 12.

Then walk past the Underground entrance, train tracks will be on Your right and walk out under the arched glass window and stroll up to Praed Street. Turn right, walk past the Hilton and keep walking another 3 blocks up to the Costa coffee. It’s now Craven Road. Cross the street and eat at Tukdin Flavors of Malaysia. Opens at noon Mon-Thursday. 6pm on Friday. If it’s too busy turn left on the nearby Gloucester Terrance Road and walk down the The Lancaster Mitre pub.

Both places are very good.

And trust me the further from Paddington Station the better the food and service.

Good suggestions and information. Thank you
We are using the London Express from LHR. We are arriving mid morning from Seattle and LA after. 9 Hr flights over night. Our plan is to take the trains in two legs and stop for lunch in London to start the time zone conversion. Should give us some room to move around on the trains, stay active and awake.
