My daughter and I are traveling to the UK in April. In researching the Oyster Card, for our transport while in London, I see that there is an option to buy her a photo card in advance that will give her the half-adult fare. However, I'm wondering if the 10BPS negates the fare discount. Thanks for help with this.
Thank you, Emma. :)
I have only done rough calculations in my head, and should perhaps do this "on paper" to get a more accurate sense of how often we'll be using the Tube, etc. I imagine we will also be walking quite a bit, depending on the weather.
If buying a 7 day travel card go to a National Rail station where a paper version can be bought without any prior arrangements. Just take a passport size photo.
We took our 15 year old to London and just got him a 7-day Travelcard for each of the 3 weeks we were there. It paid for itself and then some! You'll use the tube and buses a lot to get around. No need to buy in advance. Take a passport sized photo along (you could take the pic when you get there but sometimes it's not easy to find a photo booth) and then go to a ticket window and tell them what you want.
