We just returned from London yesterday. It was very easy to just tap your credit card in and out of the tube and buses.

I can’t imagine a reason why a non resident would want to. It requires a U.K. address.

I use the Oyster app. It tells me my balance, my journey history, I can top up my card from the app, and should I lose the card, it's registered so I should be able to get a repacement.

By the way, you can't use it from the US. You will be blocked.
