Christmas has started - Oxford Street has switched on its Christmas lights display - the first of the major London illuminations to be turned on. You can see a short video here.
Same lights as last year, but maybe more of them. It’s always nice to see them. I look forward to the Carnaby Street lights because the theme changes every year. Will be there in December.
I read that in one more day, both Carnaby and Regent Streets will also have their displays up.
We’re in Hanoi, Vietnam right now. A wine/liquor store has a Christmas tree (big ornaments) in its window. Certainly not London, but they’re getting an early start.
A restaurant had “Happy Halloween” in orange cut-out letters in its window.
One of these days I will get to London during Christmas! Thanks for the video, wasleys—that was lovely!
I’m considering spending the 2nd week of November in London next year. Will the decorations in the city be up or would it be better to wait a week?
I’ve been in London since November 6.
Other than a visit to Harrods during the day have not been near Oxford or Regent streets so cannot comment first hand.
Will say Covent Garden has its Christmas decorations up and there are Christmas lights on High Holborn Street and Fleet Street.
Christmas decorations including a Christmas tree are up at the Battersea Power Station Shopping Center.
Some lights and a Christmas tree at the London School of Economics which is near where I’m staying.
Thanks Claudia.
