Hello!
My daughter will be spending a week at Oxford at the end of July/beginning of August. I a, planning to fly out and back with her and would like to fill the week in between exploring Oxford (for a day or two) and the Cotswolds. I have searched online, I see the organized day tours ( I may do one), but wondering if I should be planning to spend a night or two in various villages? Which ones? I would like to walk some of the Cotswold way ( or walk something!). I am a photographer so I am really excited about this adventure, I just have no idea how to begin planning! Any and all advice is welcome. Thank you!
I took a Go Cotswolds' tour a couple years ago. I was staying in Chipping Campden and they pick-up and return to that village. I had been in Oxford which I loved. I took a train to Moreton in Marsh and then a taxi to Chipping Campden where I had chosen to stay. My room was above the Bantam Tea Rooms on the High Street directly across from the old Market Hall. The area is just delightful.
Moreton-In-Marsh is a small Cotswolds village, not far from Oxford. Take the train there from Oxford. Good walks all around, plus many buses leave there for other villages. You could stay in Moreton-In-Marsh and do day trips to other villages by bus or take the GoCotswolds tour. There are several B&B's and small hotels in Moreton. I am assuming you won't have a car.
Thank you! Yes, I meant to add that I won't have a car.
Here's more information about GoCotswolds. They give a really good tour in a minivan.

Make reservations in advance. Their tours fill up quickly, so reserve as soon as you know your desired date.
You could do a day tour with them and have them drop you at one of the villages at the end of the tour. Bourton-On-The-Water is one of the (many) places I would consider being dropped off for a two or three night stay.
It is a lovely village with a small river running through the middle of town. Lovely walks from there in all directions.
I believe it is the last stop on one of the tours above (Cotswolds In A Day).
You could make your way back to Moreton by bus, then take the train back to Oxford.
