Options to airbnb and VRBO for renting apartment in London

We were in London two summers ago for five nights and stayed at a Premier Inn. We are floating the idea of returning at the end of 2021 and bringing our one son and our nephew who had his long awaited London trip cancelled two weeks before he was to leave due to COVID. Thus, we are interested in renting an apartment.

I saw that London Connections had gone out of business and wondered if there were local options for short term lets. We would be staying four nights and need a two bedroom apartment but no interest in high end options.

We have found in the U.S. that frequently local management companies are responsible for homes in vacation areas and if you can find them, it is often cheaper than using VRBO and Air bnb.

You can find something you like on Airbnb, then find the company website, if you want to book direct. Do review both company cancellation, payment and security deposit requirements.

We visited London in 2018 and used The Plum Guide. We liked their service, and had a good experience. We were originally looking for a two bedroom for a family of four, and found this listing: https://www.plumguide.com/homes/719/strand-me?guests=4. However, our trip changed substantially and we ended up as a group of 9, so ended up with a different, much larger, listing. We had a great time, but were further out from the center than I prefer. The listing I’ve included here looks to be much more central. I have no idea how the space “actually” is - it looks quite compact, but might meet your needs. Obviously, they have other two bedrooms as well. Their properties seem to range from quite reasonable (like the listing I’ve included) to very high end and expensive. Have a wonderful time!

Hi

A few years ago I had good luck with Tripadvisor for renting a place in the Cotswolds. I used vrbo/homeaway for London. I did find that I had some challenges with finding an apartment with two bedrooms for 5 nights in London. A lot of them had weekly minimums and even some that didn't wanted to wait to see if they could get a longer stay.

It's been a couple of years now. We stayed in in the Castletown House Apartments in West Kensington. Very convenient to West Kensington and Barons Court Tube Stations, (Picadilly, District and Circle Lines). Straight shot to King' Cross or Westminster. Some decent restaurants nearby. They seem to have many properties under contract. The four of us were comfortable. Reasonably priced versus hotel options.
