Opinions on Fulham/Hammersmith area to stay in London?

Hello! We're a family of four traveling to London next April, and we have an opportunity to stay in a home (for free, through a home exchange) in the Fulham/Hammersmith neighborhood. As London newbies who aren't familiar with the city, we have no idea if this is a good location or not. We'll be wanting to see the central London sights (Tower of London, Westminster, Trafalgar Square, etc.). I got a few more specifics from the home owner about the house location: the nearest tube stations are West Brompton or Fulham Broadway, which are both 7-10 min. walks away. The main road closest to the house is North End Road, and the house itself is on Halford Road.

Anyone know anything about this area? We have another home exchange opportunity with a large home in Teddington, but that location seems quite a bit further away...

Thank you!

You have already answered the question I put to you on your other thread!
That location is much better than Teddington. It's just a 7 minutes walk to West Brompton, which is just one stop from Earl's Court. You could be at Westminster in 31 minutes and Tower Hill in 41. That's barely any longer than many of your compatriots who stay around Earl's Court. It just about opens up the chance of coming back "home" during the day.
As long as the house meets your requirements I would go for it.

Go for it.

Tube ( Underground ) from Fulham Broadway to Westminster; (Parliament Square) is 20-25minutes. East Peasy. If you are visiting the Tower of London 1/2 hour on the Tube.

Area is fine. Forget Teddington.

My mother originally came from that area and still has a sister living there. The closest supermarket of any real size is Waitrose at the bottom of North End Road.

The bus routes aren't as good as they were having been shortened but the 11 and 14 are alternatives to the Underground for some attractions.

Incidentally the name of neighbourhood itself would be West Brompton (or possibly if right at the North End Road end Walham Green). Hammersmith & Fulham is the borough it is in which is a large area and doesn't nail it right down.
