One week in the cotswolds prior to a cruise

My husband and I arriving in the end of August for one week stay in the cotswolds prior to a cruise. I think have found a lot of information regarding the small villages and sights for Chipping Campden and Bath. We have three nights booked in Chipping Campden and one night in Bath. We will then have three nights in Portsmouth. Any suggestions or restaurant recommendations for Portsmouth or Southampton? I did not see any mention of either town in Rick's guidebook of the area. Thank you.

I would visit Hidcote Manor Gardens.http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/hidcote/

If you are using the trains, please note that the lines east of Bath - including that to Portsmouth, are closed during August for electrification works. It is probable that the train company (First Great Western), will provide buses to get past the 'blockade'.https://www.firstgreatwestern.co.uk/bath2015

I would not bother going into Southampton. Portsmouth Harbour is quite nice with waterside restaurants and the historic naval dockyard a few minutes walk away. (I have not been on the ferry to the Isle of Wight).

In Portsmouth I always head for Gunwharf Quays... plenty there.

It's a great outlet style shopping centre with genuine bargains always available.

Don't bother with the harbour boat tour, I found it disappointing, but Spinnaker Tower is worth a visit.

Personally I like Yo Sushi and Carluccio's there. We have been to Loch Fyne many times also, it's not bad, but pricey. I found Jamie's Italian disappointing, but think I chose badly from the menu. Brassiere Blanc has some good reviews, but I've not been yet... French menu.

Thank you for the suggestions. It's good to know about Southampton so we won't spend much time there. The World War II museum, the Spinaker tower and the Royal Navy museum all sounded interesting to me. It sounds like there is enough to keep us busy.
