My husband and I will be staying in York for just one night in May 2022. We will be travelling by train and would like some recommendations for hotels that would work best for such a quick visit.

We stayed at the Abbey Guest House and liked it. The ownership seems to have changed but that may not mean much. It's well located just across the river from the station and an easy walk from the Yorkshire Museum, the Minster, and the medieval city center. It's too bad you won't have more time in York.

My favourite is the Dean Court Hotel which is virtually next door to the Minster (ask for a room overlooking it!) It is about 15 minute walk from the station and convenient for all the attractions in the centre of York.

The closest Hotel to the railway station is the Principal York (used to be the Royal Station Hotel) , but I've not stayed there.
