My husband and I are flying in and out of Birmingham next month and I have all our accommodations booked for a wonderful trip - except our last night before an Monday 8:30am departure. It seems easiest to drive in the night before (Sunday evening), return our rental car, and head to a hotel before the early Monday morning check in. It looks like there are several hotels right at the airport, but it also looks like the train is equally accessible, making it possible (better?) to spend the night closer to the city center. I have spent some time looking at possibilities but it's a bit hard for me to be sure about distances, practicalities, and possible hotel shuttles. I am ready to reserve our rental car and also wondered if the company I choose has any bearing on that (do the different companies have different locations that make any particular hotels easier?). Thanks for any advice or insight!
Because the airport is adjacent to the National Exhibition Centre there is a whole array of hotels close to the NEC and therefore the Airport. There is also an Accor building right on the airport which is divided up in the usual way between Novotel, Ibis and Ibis Budget (Etap) which is just one or two minutes from either terminal.
There won't be a whole lot going on in the centre of Birmingham on a Sunday night.
Thanks, Nigel! That's the way it seemed but I just wasn't sure enough to pass up asking. :)
