One more tip if you can't check into your room right away

If I had it to do over, I would pack a disposable toothbrush or similar. We left home mid-day in U.S., flew overnight to London, dropped off luggage at hotel in the morning. Did not get back to room until late that night. Have been married 34 years - first time my husband has commented on my breath. Toothbrush and strong mints would be advised.

Delta hands out a disposable toothbrush and paste in the small package with ear plugs, etc. You can decide whether your breath will be worse after waking up on the plane or all day touring - ha!

Often they have them on the plane. If you fly premium economy or higher, they're in your goodie bag. And there's a chance the flight crew can give you an extra if you ask nicely.

The mini-toothpaste in the freebies bag (Delta economy comfort or whatever it's called now) is enough for one use. Very convenient if you forget to pack toothpaste in your 3-1-2.

I always have a few hygiene items in my carry-on tote so I can freshen up--toothpaste, folding travel brush, wipes, deodorant, eye drops for my contacts--and depending on the weather might even change my top. That way if I can't get in my room I still feel fresh enough to venture out with confidence.

I carry a travel size toothbrush and toothpaste in my purse every single day of my life. I brush my teeth midday at work. Can't stand it otherwise. Rite Aid sells a great travel size set. Essentially my 3-1-1 Ziploc lives in my commuter bag.
