One more ETA question

I am very confused. Prior to applying for my ETA I watched a YouTube video about the process. Since my tech skills have declined since I retired, I went to my library for assistance. I was expecting to have to do the phone to passport thing but NO. This step was not included (and my tech support person was questioning my sanity since she had gotten her ETA earier in the year and did not have to go through this step). I received my approval within 10 minutes.

BUT, having read multiple posts on ETA, I am wondering why some need to do the phone to passport exchange and others do not. Was it because I was in the UK last fall and had the facial recognition scanor some other reason? Is mt ETA valid? I DID NOT use iVisa but the official UK site.

What gives?

The reason you did not have to scan your passport with your phone is because there is an option for manual entry of that information. If using the app, one presses “ skip” at that step if scanning passport won’t work or you prefer not to do so.

Don’t stress. If you received the approval email, then you are good to go.

Thank you. I do not recall being able to skip anything but I did receive the confirmation email. Thanks again.

When applying for an ETA, you have the option of scanning your passport on your phone or entering the information manually.

You got approved. That's all that matters.
