One day Visit: Penshurst & Hever

Hello,

We are staying in Canterbury and are planning a day out to visit both Penshurst Place and Hever. Since we have no car and are traveling by rail, I know we will be needing taxi services to both locations. So I have two questions: First of all, is this doable? Second, can we use the same taxi service and travel straight from Penshurst to Hever for a reasonable fair?
Thank you.

From Canterbury take a bus to Ashford and then a train to Tonbridge - total 1hr 21min.
Book a taxi to take you to Penshurst Place - 6 miles.
Book another taxi to transfer you from Penshurst to Hever Castle - 6 miles.
Hever train station is a one mile walk from the castle.
Your return journey requires changing train and station at Edenbridge, with further changes at Tonbridge and Ashford - total 2hr 53min.

It is doable but not easy without a car and will be a full day.

The previous correspondent is only partially correct in that from Canterbury you can get a direct train to and from Tonbridge, so you don't have to change additionally at Ashford or get a bus. Both locations are as you aware some distance from rail stations so best to take the number of the taxi firm that you first use to transfer between venues.
