one day in London

Would love to hear some advice regarding one day in London in May. I know it is only one day but it is what it is.
I have been before and saw all the sites over a few days but will be there with two family members who have never been.
Our musts would be Buckingham Palace, Tower of London and Westminster Abbey.
It seems possible but is it really with lines and such?
Is there anything else we can do if you all think we will have more time?

Thanks for your input!

Why not do the open top bus tour? You can get on and off whenever you want to, stop off at the places you wish to visit, and it runs all day. You also get a better view and some information too! I think it's the perfect way to see London.

Kris,

any hint as to gender and age for "other" members\ and maybe what they all may like?

happy trails.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume that the OP means the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace, but I could be wrong.

Thanks for the replies everyone!

Yes, we were hoping for the changing of the guards- along with every other tourist in London!

I will be traveling with my husband (in our 40's) and mother in law (70's). We will probably go to Harrod's just for her since it sounds like we will have enough time.

Will likely take the hop on hop off tour just for the ease of getting around with my mother in law.

Will take any other suggestions.

Thanks again!
