Looks like you're slowing down in Scotland, which is good. Hope you have more in mind for Newcastle than beer -- which is actually quite common throughout the UK as you may have heard! ;-)

I'd still recommend skipping Cotswolds on this itinerary (see the other thread) and using the time in either the north or London. But if you visit the Costwolds you'll probably want that car instead of relying on trains. Very little rail service there.

Each time you post your trip gets a little longer. Keep up the good work! ;-)

Why not fly into Edinburgh from the U.S.?

All the rest sounds fine.

I would spend less time in Inverness and Glencoe, more time in Edinburgh and London, drop Newcastle and the Cotswolds, add York and Durham.

Saturday- Glencoe
Sunday- Trossachs
Monday- Edinburgh
Tuesday- Edinburgh
Wednesday- Edinburgh
Thursday- Alnwick
Friday- Durham
Saturday- York
Monday- York
Tuesday- London

Saturday- Fly home

When you are at Inverness, take time to visit the battlefield of Culloden, which is a few miles to the east. The exhibition in the visitor centre gives an excellent explanation of how the battle took place, and who the participants were.
