Sorry, another train question. I have combed the forum and recommended resources, but can't find an answer to my specific question.
After our arrival at Heathrow, we are traveling via HEX (we like it) to Paddington Station and then on to Truro. We want to catch the earliest train possible but given airport variables, I don't want to buy Advance tickets and commit to a specific time/train that we might miss. I also don't want to pick a "safe" time when we might have been able to catch an earlier one. And since we will be traveling in the off-peak period, Off-Peak tickets looks like the best option.
My question is, can I buy Off-Peak tickets in advance for a train we hope to catch (around noon) and then use those tickets for a later train (in the off-peak period, on the same day) should we miss it? I would like to buy the tickets in advance so that we don't have to deal with the purchase upon arrival at Paddington.
We are traveling in Sept. and I know it's very early to be thinking about train tickets, but I want to be prepared for the best way to manage the process.
Thank you!
