Check the local papers to see where The President and First Lady are scheduled to be. They arrive Thursday Night. Friday they will lunch at Windsor Castle with Queen Elizabeth. That evening they will be hosted by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry at Kensington Palace. Security will be tight.
Most people in London won't notice any difference over the next few days, as security is always high. There are regularly foreign heads on State visits here.
Traffic on the odd road will be held whilst the motor cavalcade passes, but there won't be much disruption. There may be more impact in Windsor- I am not sure if they are driving, flying in a helicopter etc. The Queen often travels around the UK by train, but I can't see Obama doing that!
If you are going to London over the next few days, there will be much more disruption due to the London Marathon on Sunday.
Kowtow?
act in an excessively subservient manner
He's the President of the United States, not some underling to an ambassador from some third world country!
Oh for Gawd's sake it was merely an informative post. Everyone settle.
Just arrived yesterday and thought the Marathon was going to be my only headache. Now disruptions due to POTUS.
I have to be in The City on Friday so I may just bypass the areas around Kensington Palace and #10. Or travel via tube.
I was supposed to be back the weekend of Jun 10. I'm going to Dublin instead and will come back after all the birthday celebrations--although that's what's mostly on the telly today.
I assume they shut down the airport where Obama arrived and will shut it down again when he leaves. That's a whole 'nother set of inconveniences. In 2004 when I flew back to St. Louis from Houston, Bush was either landing or departing St. Louis and we had to circle for 45 minutes until his plane left.
