The best luxury I can think of on a trip is space so I guess I'd have to fork over the £25,000/night for the suite. I'm reminded of an article I read 20 or so years ago about the world's most expensive hotels. There was one in New York that was in a similar price range, but wifi was extra.
The Chancery Rosewood...Designed by the Finnish American architect Eero Saarinen, ...
He designed IAD airport as well
Interesting read. My immediate reaction is good for them, they are clearly meeting a specific market demand, and if people have the budget for that level of luxury, why not?
In the article -
I am not really a luxury hotel person. My attitude: I’m not traveling to spend time in the room, so why pay the money? Give me clean, nicely designed and throw in free breakfast, and I’m happy.
Yeah me too. Personally, I'm more of a local café and diner sort of traveler. I definitely have my own level of comfort that I'm willing to pay for and I have become very fond of aparthotels - fits me well. But this tier of luxury well above me.
ETA - I should clarify. "I am not really a luxury hotel person." Yeah me too. "I’m not traveling to spend time in the room." I actually enjoy spending time in my hotel room, so yeah there's a certain level of comfort I'm willing to pay for.

To each his own. If one can afford to spend that amount of money for a hotel room, and wants to do so, fine with me.
On the other hand, I keep remembering my grandfather saying "Some people have more money than sense".

My hotel tastes have changed and if I had that kind of money there are situations where I would pay for it. What I am willing to pay a little extra for is an extra large room with comfortable seating and a balcony. I don't really need all that individual attention-to-detail. Having said that, in a Trip Report I wrote in February about Mexico City, we paid about $350/night and it came with a butler-I'd describe him more as a personal concierge, and it was nice but not essential and don’t think $350/ night would be sustainable for extended trips, just for special circumstances or events.
