We are scheduled to stay at the above hotel located at 88 Holland Road in a few weeks. Has anyone stayed there and if so what did you think? Also is it a safe area? Is it a nice area? Which tube station should I use-Shepherd’s Bush underground or Kensington (Olympia)? Thanks in advance for your help.
I can't offer any advice on this specific hotel, but this is a very safe (and upscale) area. It's close to Holland Park, where a lot of celebrites live. In terms of transport, Kensington Olympia doesn't have consistent tube services (I believe the service only runs at the weekend) but it does have the Overground. It will be easier to use Shepherd's Bush station which runs a normal service.
Thanks for the help
I've never heard of the particular hotel, but I can offer that that is generally an excellent little neighbourhood.
I love the Holland Park - especially the Japanese Garden (take care when crossing the water on the stepping stones) and the Dutch garden. Actually there is nothing I don't like in Holland Park.
Just south of the park is the Design Museum, and Leighton House. Great neighbourhood.
Holland Park Avenue, also known as the A402, connects Shepherd's Bush with Notting Hill Gate on its way to Knightsbridge. Lots of buses ply the route.
My concern with the hotel is not the location, but the distance from the Tube. I see it's a 20 min walk to High Street Kensington Tube. That said, buses will probably suffice. RE: safety, it is a safe area. I stay around High Street Kensington and walk (often at night) to the Tesco Superstore off Warwick Road, which is very close to this hotel. Should you decide to stay here, please report back!
Thanks to everybody who helped
