We are visiting London in August for 6 nights (2 adults, 1 teen). We will be visiting all of the typical museums, royal sites, see a few plays, etc. We have found apartments in both Notting Hill and Pimlico and would love help on deciding where to stay. We are wondering if Notting Hill is going to feel too far from everything and end up spending so much time on public transit? Or will it be a nice change from the crowds and we might enjoy the neighborhood feel? Thank you for your help.
Twice I have stayed in Notting Hill (near Pembridge Square) and loved having a quiet area to return to at the end of the day. It was close to Notting Hill Gate station with three tube lines. Whether you will enjoy staying there really depends on your family's travel style and interest.
Both areas are absolutely fine and what ever you do you are going to spend time on public transport so I wouldn’t worry too much about that. To generalise I would say Notting Hill is posher and Pimlico is quieter but there isn’t that much in it.
If you can give us more specific address details we can give you a more useful answer. Both ‘Notting Hill’ and ‘Pimlico’ can be used to describe quite a wide and varied area.
Thank you, I am leaning toward Notting Hill. The NH location is Edge Street near Notting Hill Gate. Pimlico is Alderney Street between Pimlico Station and Victoria Station.
I would personally go with Notting Hill- I find the area around Pimlico a little dull. To me Notting Hill is very central so I wouldn't think you'd be spending a lot more time on public transit. But ultimately I think you'll be fine with either one.
The area around the address in Notting Hill definitely has more going on, shops, bars, restaurants etc.
