Notting Hill or other location London hotel rec?

Anyone have a recommendation for a lovely Notting HIll hotel - boutique or bigger. I'm hoping for midrange, old-school but modernized!, great beds and, with some hope, a great bathtub. Oh...and not on top of 'party-central'. I like my sleep! This would be for a first week of March stay. If there was breakfast included it would be the breakfast-icing on the cake! I should add we are in our mid-60 and reasonably fit for walking. We've been to London before but it's been a while! We're open to other areas (I just thought it would be cool to stay one time in Notting Hill) We intend to go to the British Museum for a long visit and have an event at Sothebys - happy to take the tube ...just thought that Kensington might be a drop too far? If not, those recs also!

Many thanks

There are no hotels in the market area; DoubleTree by Hilton London - Hyde Park is within walking distance.

Why not stay at the Premier Inn Holborn?

10-15 minute stroll to the British Museum.

From Heathrow Terminals 2&3 you could take the Piccadilly Tube Line to Holborn station. From there its a 10 minute walk to the PI.

The interesting Sir John Soane museum is nearby.

So is the Shaftesbury Theatre: https://www.shaftesburytheatre.com/

Its not Notting Hill but it’s convenient for your British Museum sojourn.

EDIT: It’s boutique but well reviewed. Not cheap.

You might consider the Thistle Kensington Gardens

Both Queensway and Lancaster Gate tube stations are relatively close to the hotel (Queensway is closer I beleive). From there, its one or two stops to the Notting Hill Gate tube station.
