Northern Rail Flash Sale

The Northern Rail Flash Sale is back.

Only bookable on their own website and on their own routes there are 1 million 50 pence advance tickets available, and another 4 million combined tickets for either £1 or £2.

These tend to go very fast.

They are on selected trains only so they need to suit your travel times. But I can even see £2 fares on long routes like Carlisle to Leeds via Settle.

I am posting this at 8.40am having only got the notifying e-mail at 8.24am to give everyone the best chance.

Northern have now added 10 pence tickets to the sale- 100,000 of them, the sale ends at 6pm UK time tonight

Thanks, Stuart! I'm assuming that I can't purchase tickets now for next year, but wondered if they do this flash sale more than once a year.

Yes it happens maybe two or three times a year, at totally unpredictable times.

The best thing to do is to sign up for the Northern Rail mailing list. That is meant to give you a couple of days warning of a sale- but didn't this time round. But outside of sale times Northern now have a great range of short distance "advance" fares which in practice can be booked up until 5 minutes before travel.

Under this sale you have to travel by mid October.
