We arrive via Eurostar in London midday on New Year's Day. Our Air BNB is near Gloucaster Road Tube station. After checking-in and getting settled at the Air BNB, we were going to go to the London Eye late afternoon/early evening, followed by a bus tour. Is this a good plan for New Years Day in London / our arrival day, if so, would you recommend a hop on/hop off bus or a Christmas Lights Bus tour (after the London Eye)? I'm leaning more toward Christmas lights. It looks like there are two that will still be available: Toot Bus and Golden Tours. Not sure which is best? We are a family of four - with two kids ages 11 and 15. Thank you!
I’m not sure what traffic will be like on New Years Day. On any other day I would encourage you to skip bus tours in London because it is one big traffic jam and not very pleasant on the bus.
on the other hand, if on a lights and window display tour (could also go on foot so as to get a better look at the windows) heavy traffic (don't think there will be, sadly) could be an absolute boon - more gawking time!
I think you will arrive too late for the New Years Day parade
