New years 2023 in Oxford and Bath

I am heading to Oxford for the 29 dec -1 Jan 23 and then heading to Bath from the 1-4 Jan 23. I have 7 people (3 teenagers)

Does anyone know of any neat or unique spots in those areas for either NYE or New Years day?

Additionally, if anyone has any can't miss spots for a couple of book lovers (my 3 daughters) we are planning on a few Jane Austin stops in Bath and Winchester.

If you have a car, then the Cheltenham Races for NYD might appeal. Slightly out of your way between oxford and bath, but not too bad.

With the same if-you-have-a-car caveat: The book town of Hay-on-Wye, Wales is about 90 miles NW of Bath. Google estimates a driving time of under 2 hours; I didn't check ViaMichelin.com.
