New Year's Eve in Yorkshire

Hi,
Does anyone have any recommendations for New Year's Eve celebrations--preferably some lovely local tradition or fireworks in Yorkshire? We will be based in Leeds and don't have money for expensive exclusive parties.

the NYE tradition in most english cities is for clubs to increase admission prices and people drink until they fall over. If the drink hasn't made them fall over they go outside and fight for a taxi. Those with house parties might pay for fireworks which everyone around will see but not know about until they happen. A few more upmarket restaurants and country pubs might do something but only advertise locally. Try googling for last year, nothing of note comes out for the Leeds area.

London does a huge official fireworks display but that's not much use in Yorkshire. The problem is that a few places further north have tried to copy London and stage events with fireworks, notably Edinburgh and Liverpool but one NYE tradition in the north is gale force winds and both these cities have had to cancel at late notice more than once and have lost a lot of money because of it - so the others have thought better of it.

The big fireworks parties all over england occur on November 5th (or the nearest weekend), at this date you can't move for them! Do not ask why, google and wiki have the history!
