As of 2 days ago a new Rail Air service- #RA3 started from terminals 2 and 3 (NOT the Central Bus Station) at Heathrow to Watford Junction station which may be useful for people heading north on Avanti trains (although not all Avanti trains stop there) to save going into an across Central London- hourly from 0430 to 2330 from Heathrow, and from 0400 to 2300 from Watford Junction.
This is in addition to RA1 to Reading and RA2 to Woking and Guildford
The original Rail Air coach from Watford Junction was replaced many years ago by the inferior all-stops bus. I've used parts of the route and wouldn't want to do the whole run.
This new Rail Air Coach sounds like a real improvement. Of course time will tell.
It would be good to know just where the Heathrow end stops actually are. I may be staying at T4 in the next month or two and will try to remember to look. In the meantime if anybody else is in T2/T3 and wants to have a squint and report back I'd appreciate it.
Thanks for the post.
The stops are Stand 2 at Watford Junction Station, Stand W in Watford Town Centre (next to the Library), Stops 11 and 12 outside T2 arrivals, and Stops 7 and 8 at T3 arrivals.
This is the Greenline #724 which is the stopping service, having originated at Harlow, and running via Hertford and St Albans. It has an earlier 0300 departure from Watford Junction and a later after midnight departure from Heathrow. Also it is part of the government £2 fare cap scheme (even for the full 3 hour route from Harlow). It actually has the same running time as the RA3 but stops at Heathrow Central Bus Station with one early morning call in each direction at T5.
Worth adding this change is for all Railair coaches not just the new service. They did stop in these areas many years ago, so it is kind of a reversion. Long time though since they went to T4.
