New Premier Inn - Paddington Station from 12 August

Always seems to be interest here in staying at Paddington Station / Premier Inns so I thought it worth highlighting this new one opening soon. Unusually it contains 3 different grades of rooms from hub through standard to plus. Hub might be in a separated area. Air conditioned too. It is an office block conversion on Eastbourne Terrace, opposite the entrance to the Elizabeth line.

Wow, marco thisis just great news. I just checked our dates to see a comparison with staying out in Hammersmith (which we chose mostly bc it was much more affordable than central London) and we can get a room for less money, including paying for breakfast for the both of us. There was a consideration to staying out a bit to also see other parts of London, but with our short timeframe, and the fact we wanted to spend a day in the East End and Bloomsbury/ Camden areas, we think now that the cost is acceptable, we should stay in closer to reduce travel time.

After talking it over, we are getting ready to book this hotel now. So grateful for the notice about it!

Thanks, Marco! I checked it out and they have family rooms there. Definitely a possibility for next year for myself and my 2 grandkids.

Prices are quite soft at the moment but this could change as it gets better known. Take advantage while you can.

Thank you, Marco! Off to Oxford in a few days (for a class at Bradfield) but will keep this in mind for future trips. We usually prefer staying in Holborn, but with the Eizabeth line we have to admit that Paddington is very convenient to LHR!

oh, and just to add something completely off-topic (sorry, haha), I just booked tickets for "Hello, Dolly!" b/c a friend saw it last night (a friend who hates musicals, btw) and LOVED it.

Laura, I love that show! I can sing every song in it from memory. Who are playing Dolly and Horace Vandergelder?

ETA: Couldn't wait so I just checked and it's Imelda Staunton! I would SO love to see her play that role, but sadly it's only through mid-September (sob).

Sorry, Mardee! last weekend was a whirlwind and now we are in the UK, so I hadn't checked the forums. Yes, Imelda Staunton, and my friend said she was fantastic and she can't imagine anyone else in the role now. And this friend lives in NYC and goes to many shows, and hates musicals, haha.

What a bummer that it is such a short run. I happen to be in the UK (again) for a class next week. I'll add pics to my Polarsteps! I know it's not the same as being there, though ...

my friend sent me this ... :-)

It looks fabulous—I'll have to keep an eye out for the cast album. Thanks!
