New idea from Gatwick-will it work??

Hi again,
So we are arriving into Gatwick and staying in Vauxhall. The Gatwick Express stops there, but I read somewhere that there are like 45 steep steps to the surface. With luggage (even as light as I pack) that is a bit much. So I was thinking maybe take the Southern train to Victoria and buy my 7-day paper travelcard for the 2 4 1 deals there and then hopping on a bus to Vauxhall? Sound like it would work?
Thank you in advance.
Cheryl

p.s. we will be in London for 4 days going all over. I was planning on the 7-day card, but would dailies be cheaper? And how much do they actually cost? Any discount for a 13 year old?

The Gatwick Express does not stop at Vauxhall.

A step free way would be to take a train to Clapham Junction and change there for Vauxhall, all on national rail.

Four days is round about on the cusp and thee best option may depend on which zones you intend to travel within each day.. 13 year olds can get child reate travel cards without getting a photocard, which is a bit involved for a short trip.

So, when I go to the national rail website, I can put in Gatwick to Vauxhall and it says I can buy tickets. Why would it do that if it does not stop there? More confused now.

As well as the Express, normal " stopping" services run the same route.
Cheaper but slower.
Marco has it right change at Clapham Jnc

The Express is non stop from airport to Victoria.

If you look on at the trains listed on National Rail going from Gatwick to Vauxhall, you will see that they call for a change of trains. The scenario that Marco proposed Gatwick/Clapham Junction/Vauxhall is one of those options.

National Rail indicates that there are lifts availble to all platforms at Vauxhall as well as stairs but as a frequent user maybe Emma knows how useful they are. Its a while since I've been there and I would have used stairs.

There are lifts up to the platforms at Vauxhall - some of the newer improvements they made to the station.

Emma, we are staying at the Travelodge in Vauxhall. So, I could take the slow train to Vauxhall and deal with the steps or take the faster train to Clapham Junction and then change trains to Vauxhall? We are both pretty fit, so I think the stairs would be ok. I just buy a "use anytime" ticket in advance and then hop on there at the airport?
