Can anyone suggest a nice bed and breakfast for my husband and I in a nice area in the New Forest.
I was looking in Lyndhurst and Brokenhurst but open to anything.

I don't think you'll have too much luck on here with that request. Unfortunately The New Forest doesn't feature on many American's radar, often overlooked by The Cotswolds, Bath, Oxford etc, so you're unlikely to receive many recommendations.
I've had friends stay at The Pig, https://www.thepighotel.com/brockenhurst/ at they raved about it. I've not stayed there but I've eaten at the restaurant and it is excellent although it is quite pricey.
Another highly regarded place is Lime Wood Hotel in Lyndhurst although it is also expensive. I haven't eaten there but it's on my list.
The only place I've stayed in The New Forest (it's only a 30 minute drive from home) is the Cottage Lodge Hotel in Brockenhurst https://www.cottagelodge.co.uk, it describes itself as a hotel but it's more akin to a B & B. My wife and I had a very pleasant stay there (we stayed when we dined at The Pig) and I would certainly recommend it.
