In 2024 there is to be a new ferry company competing with the Isles of Scilly Steamship Company for sailings from Penzance to the Isles-https://scillyferries.co.uk/ferries/hi-speed-ferry/
This company has been set up by the Harland and Woolf shipyard, in a fit of pique for losing the tender to build the new ship for the Isles of Scilly Steamship Company.
Time will tell if this company actually starts up (if they can secure berths at Penzance and St Mary's) and if a catamaran is really suitable for a crossing with a reputation for stormy waters.
