It's honestly not in a great area for tourists. Pretty far away from everything except the cricket ground.

It’s an older style council property so highly likely it’s now privately owned. I know the area a little bit and I despite its central location and the multi million pound Georgian terraces just around the corner it is still a bit rough around the edges. However, you’re near the tube so easy to get to anywhere you want to be.

The area is OK - nothing special but I suspect that's reflected in the price. My concern would be the possibility of it being an illegal let. It may well not be but it's possible.

Google Rutley Close and you will see that Southwark Council built new houses in the area last year
39/44 Rutley Close
You can have a look what the area is like on Google Street View

Keep looking. Let me put this in "American" english. Social housing is lower income housing. Right across the street.

I am a big fan of booking.com for doing research.

You can then book through booking or go directly to the site.

By the way, what is your budget per night or for the whole 10 days.

the very building has a Southwick Council flat numbers sign on it 1-24, and an post board on the side. High rise across the street.

Yes some may be right to buy, but not all....

Measure twice and cut once.

Cancel that reservation.

You are traveling during the King’s coronation.

Immediately look at Premier Inn properties. You’ll most likely need to stay out further than central London but do check the following PI’s:

Shoreditch
Richmond
Clapham
Archway
Tower Bridge

All of the above NOT in “central “ London but with the Tube and busses easy transport to the sites. Personally I’d try to get rooms at the Tower Bridge one.

Book ASAP!

Reservation canceled (posting as a friend of the OP). SO helpful to get your local expertise.

I've found in Europe that Airbnb hosts often post the same property on Booking.com. The advantage is that on Booking.com, they have to list the actual address. So you can take a look at the neighborhood on Google Street View and get a better idea of the location. The Booking.com reviews about the same property are also valuable. Booking a vacation rental anywhere can be tricky, which is why consulting different websites about the same property can be beneficial.
