Need to decide on a hotel near London Heathrow Airport

Hi all,

We (2 adults and 1 teenager) have a long overnight layover at the London Heathrow Airport on the way back from Italy. We arrive around 10 pm, and the flight next day departs to US at 11 am from Terminal 3. The booking information does not indicate which terminal we are arriving from Rome, but it is BA flight.

After doing some search on this forum, I have been debating between Yotel and Premier Inn at London Heathrow Airport Terminal 5. Yotel looks great because we don't have to bother getting out of the airport. Premier Inn is also nice because of the great value (about $50 cheaper). So, I can't decide. Can anyone help me? Is it worth paying extra money to stay at the airport?

Thanks!

I always stay at the Skyline Sheraton when I just need an overnight at Heathrow. They have a few restaurants and offer a free shuttle bus to the airport. It's been a few years, so I don't know what their current rates are, but find the location to be perfect.

If you have 3, I'm going to recommend against Yotel. I think the Premier Inn will be much more comfortable for a family.

I have stayed twice at the Yotel at Gatwick and I am assuming that Heathrow has the same layout. I stayed by myself. The cabins are tiny; they are fine for one person who wants to sleep. With 3, you'd need at least 2 cabins.. It is like staying in a train compartment. Also, there is a glass divider between the bed area and the toilet/ shower; there is no privacy from your travel partner.

The Yotel is great for a single traveler; the value diminishes when you are traveling with someone else.

Edit: I see Heathrow has triples in the photos. I still think a family will be more comfortable at a traditional hotel. The photos make the cabins look bigger than they are. Also, you can check to see your terminal on the Heathrow website.

For terminal 3 you want one of the Bath Road area hotels. They are ripe for Priceline bids really since they are all much of a muchness and are often under used, particularly at weekends. If I had to pick out one, the Renaissance has been recently renovated, and has the best views of airport operations, should that be of any interest - and free buses from just down the road into Heathrow. I see little reason to stay over at a different terminal.

Thank you for all the inputs! Looks like Yotel is not a good choice for us after all! I love this forum! I will check out the hotels you suggested...
