Need hotel near Paddington Underground station - London.

I will be ending a month long UK trip with my last night in London. I’d like a hotel near the Paddington Underground Station so I can easily take the tube to the airport the next morning. Any suggestions? By the way, I will have spent the first five days of my trip in a Premier Inn located in the theater district. I feel like I should be closer to Paddington Underground Station for the last night. What say ye? Frank

63 Bayswater.

10-15 minute stroll to Paddington Station.

Have your last night’s dinner at Tudkin Flavors of Malaysia. Its’s a block and 1/2 from 63.

I wouldn't change hotels to Paddington. If you are that worried, change out to Heathrow airport hotel.

If you want to take the tube, then a hotel near a Piccadilly Line station is easy for Heathrow.

From Paddington, you have a choice of the Heathrow Express or the Elizabeth line for direct access to Heathrow. Neither are tube trains and cost more than the tube.

For an actual tube train, you will have to change to the Piccadilly Line which doesn"t go to Paddington.

There is the Premier Inn Earls Court which is one block from Earls Court station. From there it's about a 40 minute direct shot to Heathrow.

In travel time terms you are still in Zone 1 so it doesn't make too much difference.

If transferring to Paddington then it is a transfer next day on the Elizabeth Line, not the tube- as a tube transfer from Paddington requires a change.

Also, if worried about getting there, the Elizabeth Line could still have problems- infrastructure type problems blocking the track- they do happen. If there were such problems they would also affect the Heathrow Express and all main line trains out of Paddington, as they all use the same tracks.

If it is an early flight (before mid morning) then better off moving to the airport for the last night, or somewhere which has a direct London bus to the airport- out at Hounslow, Uxbridge, Ealing, Kingston on Thames, Richmond- the last two would be nice places for the last night.
All those buses are frequent and many are 24 hour routes. Better to be in a "real place" rather than in the artificial airport environment.

If the flight is lunchtime or later stay in your PI- even if there are train problems there is enough time to work round them.

If you’re staying somewhere in the “theatre” district you are almost certainly already within walking distance of a Piccadilly tube line station which will take you direct to Heathrow in less than an hour. I can’t see any point in moving hotels with all the hassle that brings unless you have a very early flight and in which case I would be staying near Heathrow.

Thanks for all the helpful suggestion. The price of hotels is something else! On with the adventure.

I would second Carol's response and just get a room at an airport hotel. There is a Premier Inn there and also a Holiday Inn Express at Terminal 5, that I just booked for next year. The prices are very reasonable - I think I'm paying £98 for the night at the HIE, which includes breakfast.

You can always leave your luggage after you check out at the Premier Inn, then just pick it up on your way to the airport. That's what I have done before, and it's such a relief to know you only have to walk a few steps to get to your flight the next day.

Which Terminal at Heathrow?

The HIE and Premier Inn are at Terminal 4 not 5. (Probably a typo.)

LOL. You are staying in one of the most expensive cities in Europe. Room rates shouldn’t be a surprise.

Did you think theatre tix were costly?

Arrghhh, Frank II, you're right! Sadly, it is not a typo - just a brain glitch. That's the second time I've switched it from 4 to 5. Thanks for the correction!
