Need airport hotel close to Terminal 4 at Heathrow

My KLM flight from London to AMS (and eventually MSP) will leave at 6:30 am from LHR, so I wanted to book my last night at the airport. I've searched through many posts here, but that's when I thought I was flying out of Terminal 3. I checked my ticket (duh, what a good idea!) and realized it's Terminal 4, not 3. The flight is not until April of next year, but I like to figure out stuff like this ahead of time.

FWIW, I do not mind walking a bit - I have a lightweight spinner and will have a personal bag sitting on top, so it's not a problem to walk a half mile or a little more. But I do realize it will be dark out at 4:30 am, so I suppose it would be better to be closer. I do not want to pay for an expensive room, and would prefer something in the range of a Premier Inn or Holiday Inn Exp, etc. I saw that there is a PI near Terminal 4 but then I saw a post telling the OP not to book anything on Bath Rd. So I'm a little confused and would appreciate any help you can give me.

Mardee, we stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Terminal 4 this past February, and couldn't have been more pleased. It was just outside the terminal, a walk of literally a few minutes. The room was sparkling clean and quiet, the staff was helpful and friendly, and the included breakfast was very good. All for about £120. Next time we're flying out of London we plan to stay there again. Highly recommended.

I'm chuckling as I post this, because I logged on to the Forum today to ask about airport hotels at Schipol, and before I got that far, I saw your post. Same question, different airport.

peterschrappen1, thanks for the recommendation!

Jane, thanks so much! I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express at Glasgow Airport in May of this year and loved it! I couldn't believe how friendly and helpful the staff was, the rooms were very clean with good amenities and the breakfast was excellent - so it sounds like it was similar to your experience! You don't by any chance remember what time the breakfast started, do you? In Glasgow, they offered a continental breakfast starting at 4:30 am, which was very nice. Of course, I can always get something at the airport, too. Thanks again for this! I think I will definitely go with it.

Ha ha! That is funny that we both thought of this at the same time! 🤣

The Premier Inn near T4 isn't on the Bath Road - it is on Sheffield Road if you want to be sure it is the right one. Historically this is generally a bit cheaper that the others in the Heathrow area, and is within easy walking distance.

Thanks, Marco - I was probably looking at the wrong one. :)

attached to the check in area (far right hand side) of T4 is an above ground tunnel / pedestrian walkway. I like it and I call it an above ground tunnel. Fully enclosed and well lit, with ventilation and a couple of windows.

In order as you walk down this tunnel, wide enough for baggage trollies or pull or push luggage (enough bumps in the floor you may be happier pulling) and plenty of room for people to pass, there is the Hilton T4, then a multifunctional building with a very nice Holiday Inn Express on one side, linked by over head bridges to a central lift lobby, and the bridges the other side lead to an exceptionally nice but not overpriced Crowne Plaza. The Crowne Plaza has a really nice Club Room floor and Club Room, for those with sufficient IHG cred. Finally the last hotel at the end of the tunnel is a Premier Inn.

Difference in walking time between the Hilton and the Premier in might, for slow walkers, be 5 minutes.

I have seen the Holiday Inn Express up close, and happily stayed in a Club Room at the Crowne Plaza and I couldn't have been happier. This was meeting friends returning from Australia after a particularly difficult year and the Crowne Plaza helped me make a fuss of them. This was February this year. I'd stay there again in a heartbeat.

You are very close to the check in hall.

I recently stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Terminal 4 and found it convenient and clean. The rooms were basic and some might find them small, but they were just fine for spending the night. I found the restaurant at the connected Crowne Plaza of much higher quality than that at the Holiday Inn Express.

Oh, decisions, decisions! Nigel, thanks for the wonderful description of the enclosed walkway! That is very good information to know. Now I just have to decide between the Crowne Plaza (I keep wanting to write Crown Royal, sigh) and the Holiday Inn Express. Luckily I have some IHG cred, although probably not enough to get in the lounge without upgrading to a higher priced room.

Carol, thanks for your thoughts! I have to admit I'm leaning towards the HIE, just because of the free breakfast.

At any rate, I decided to take advantage of an offer I just saw for an IHG credit card - 80k points if you spend $2000 in 3 months and no annual fee. So I'll wait to decide and book when I get the card in a few days. 😊

Mardee, maybe I should have read that IHG credit card offer a little more closely. I didn't notice no fee. We'll be booking flights soon for our 2024 trip, so I'll certainly be charging more that $2000. I'd better go dig through my "deleted" folder.

Jane, there were 2 offers - one was for the premium card with more bonus points, but an annual fee of $95. The other was the IHG Traveler cc, with gave you 80k points and no annual fee. Plus you only have to spend $2000 instead of $3000. :)

ETA: Here's a link to it, Jane. https://creditcards.chase.com/a1/ihg/TravelerQ3AEP?CELL=6M7W&ihgid=undefined&cm_sp=WEB-_-6COR-_-US-_-EN-_-CC-_-ChasePremierQ32023-_-HPR-_-M7W

There are 3 cc at the top - Premier, Traveler and Business. The Traveler is the one I was talking about.

Thanks, Mardee. I went back and looked, and it was the Premium in the email I got. That's why I didn't remember no fee.

Thanks for the link and comments.
