National Rail Travelcard Value?

Hi, so happy to be posting here because it means we have a trip in the works!

Heading to London for a short trip. Four nights. Arriving early Thursday a.m., March 23rd at Heathrow. Returning to Chicago Monday, March 27. Taking Heathrow Connect to Paddington, then on to South Kensington on tube.

Our last trip was seven days and we purchased National Rail Travelcard 7 day passes in order to take advantage of the Day's Out 2 for 1 offers. When we got home I totaled it up and we saved a lot of money using 2 for 1 vouchers.

However, this trip is shorter. But we plan to see many of the same sights where 2 for 1 vouchers are honored.

Q: Should we purchase the 7 day pass when the Heathrow Connect stops at Paddington, currently $41.00 USD or would Oyster, other options, be better? We would start using the travelcard on Thursday (Th,F,S,Su and Monday back to Heathrow). I am leaning toward the 7 day card, it's so easy and $41 pp is not a terrible price imo.

Thanks!

I haven't worked out the value of the travelcard because I don't know where you will be using it for the deals, nor how much you will use the Tubes and buses during your short stay.

I do wonder if a faster train than the tube - the Heathrow Connect (slower than the Express and likely busy with commuters early in the day) and then getting onto the Circle Line which is vulnerable to delays to South Kensington is actually faster and easier than getting on the Piccadilly Line tube at Heathrow, settling in and watching the countryside roll past - and people watch as the train fills up along the line - and just pop off at South Kensington......
