National Express ticket timing

Hi,

Our flight into LHR is scheduled to arrive at 11:35 am. I was looking at the National Express website and there are coaches to Bath leaving at 2:25pm and 4:35pm. I thought I'd book the one we were most likely going to be able to make and I see that if we need to reschedule I can pay extra to do that. What I don't know is how long it takes to clear immigration/customs at LHR and get to where we need to be to catch the bus. Does it seem reasonable to book the 2:25pm departure?

Thanks so much!

I think it is completely reasonable. This comes with a disclaimer that any situation can happen on any day (delayed flight, several flights arriving at once, etc), but 3 hours would normally be plenty of time to do this.

If you have biometric passports and can use the machines, I cannot envision taking more than 45 minutes to deplane, immigrate,a nd hop one of the underground options together from T5 to the Heathrow Bus Terminal between T2 and T3 (and if you come in to T3 then this last step is not necessary). You can safely take the 2:35 ride. If on flight day you find there has been major delay you can change then. My recollection from 2 1/2 years ago when we did this was that the bus was nowhere near full, although I think less buses are scheduled now.

I think it is very reasonable to book the 2:25 pm coach to Bath. You can't do anything but hope the flight arrives on time and the lines at immigration are not crazy long. I would suggest paying the extra £5.00 to make the ticket flexible within a 24-hour window. I think of it as insurance just in case the flight is delayed. You never know.
