More questions for Spring 2026 UK Trip

I have been trying to work out a time line and have a question.

We will be arriving about April 13, after Easter Holidays and leave by May 15, well before Spring Bank Holiday. This means we will cross over Early May Bank Holiday. I was thinking that the best thing to do is not travel at all that weekend but stay in one place from Thurs evening to Tuesday morning. Does that make sense or am I overthinking this?

You're overthinking it. It's not school holidays, so absolutely no reason not to travel then.

Certainly over thinking it. May day weekend may be a bit busier next year than the last two as there is a decent gap next year between Easter and May Day. But nothing to hugely worry about. By my count that is when or just after you have repositioned from the Lake District to Northumberland.
There are multiple ways to make that journey if there is rail engineering work, and (depending where you go to) I don't see Northumberland being that busy even in a honeypot place like Seahouses or Bamburgh.
We have a big family transport festival in West Cumbria each May Day weekend and it's a standing joke that the festival jinxes the weather. This year well and truly bucked that trend. The week before and the week after is usually good, but the weekend itself not. We hope LN54 will have equally good weather. It made such a difference.

Thanks for the reality check! I will not worry about how the travel days fall at this point.
