And it is practically certain that France will re-instate reciprocal quarantine for travelers arriving into France from the UK.
That's the French way, petty reactions based on petulance rather than fact based evidence. No other country on the quarantine list has reacted in such a way.
Sorry to tell you, Nigel, but this seems to be all talk. At least it is for Canadians.
One of my closest friends and her daughter-in-law flew from Canada to England Saturday. Upon arrival they saw nobody. Nobody discussed quarantine. Nobody asked them their quarantine plans (which they have) -- they sailed in with one self scan of a passport and one photo. Not one human had a thing to say about them entering the country.
This is definitely not a recommendation to try it though, as these are some of those lucky people for whom everthing always works out well and easily. We all know folks like that!
JC, sadly I completely agree. The French love their tit-for-tat where the British are concerned.
Maybe I will be wrong, I can only hope so.
They told me there was nothing.
They are complying, and have a plan to comply, regardless of lack of any oversight.
I recently returned to the UK from Italy, and everyone entering the country had to fill out a locator form online and submit it to the government. It includes a lot of detail about where you’re coming from, where you will be staying in the UK, etc. I think that’s what Nick means - that is the measure for oversight, the government now has that information and can check up on it. Whether they do is another question. (Also now as I’m thinking about it, I don’t think I had to show it to anyone when going through passport control...but I wouldn’t recommend or condone trying to slide through without filling out the form!)
Andrea,
Were your friends carry Canadian Passports, British or both? just curious how they managed to fly to the UK and get in. I have a US and UK passport and hope to visit family there next year. Just curious about how they were able to travel to the UK. Was it to visit family or as tourists?

Canadians are allowed into the UK
Andrea, the UK is open to Americans. We just have to self-quarantine for 14 days. Even if you use your British Passports you will have to self-quarantine since you are traveling from the U.S.
The UK is in fact open to everybody -- as in, there are no coronavirus-specific entry bans.
The normal visa regime is still in place, so if you required a visa to visit before, you still need a visa now; and there is of course the 14-day quarantine requirements for arrivals from most countries, as is being discussed in this thread.
But there is no blanket entry ban in the same way that the US, Canada, or (most) EU states have applied entry bans on particular classes of travelers.
They are traveling on Canadian passports, going straight to her dad's.
Ok, thanks, I canceled my trip to see family this year in Cambridge and hope to travel Memorial Day weekend 2021. As a teacher, I have the time to quarantine on both sides of my trip.

" Really, it boils down to them not wanting to cooperate because they feel special."
It doesn't only apply to covid 19 regulations either, there are plenty of "entitled" people out there.
while Federico telling us about his product is above, I wonder how reliable it is, what the advertising policy is, what cookies are kept, where the data comes from, and how often it is updated.

Thanks for participating Federico, and welcome to the Forums. Glad to see your first post.
The site is bogus. It is a collection device to get your email address, and then target you. Any "information" that it might provide you is readily available elsewhere. This needs to be removed, and it would appear that this new poster is after information only.
Some public health officials are saying Europe's 2nd wave is now ramping up to hit Europe hard in the coming weeks/months.
As someone interested in the prospects for travel by US citizens to Europe, this developing 2nd wave may just be the elephant in the room of this forum.
A very big elephant, indeed.
From what I've been seeing, the 2nd wave of infections is already happening in Europe.
By "elephant in the room," I was referring to the edict from above that we're not supposed to talk about it here.
@Edgar, pleased to see you are posting again. Hope you are ok. Best Wishes.
@Nigel. Maybe the quarantine has kept all the baggies away from The Hawthorns? All the rich ones who summer in south of France and Monaco.
Stay safe. Best of mental health to you all.

And today I saw that Grant Shapps said that as of Sunday (October 18) 4 am, Italy has been added to the “bad” list — I.e. folks coming from there will have to quarantine for 14 days upon entering/returning to the UK.
