We're coming to the end of seven amazing days in London and have one free day. We loved Camden Lock market and wandering along Shaftesbury between the British Museum and Covent Garden. Can you recommend more neighbourhoods with this sort of vibe?
Assume you have walked the south bank from Westminster to Tower Bridge, most people do, and I do regularly. Spend some time in St. Catherine’s Dock by Tower Bridge.
Shoreditch and Brick Lane are great fun, including Spitalfields market and Box Park. Sunday is the best day. My personal fav.
Notting Hill and Portobollo market is another, although I’m not a huge fan of these, many people love them.
Chiswick has a good mix - take a walk along the River Thames and watch the rowers if you are there early enough then visit Chiswick House or pop down the road to Syon House and then visit Chiswick High Road where there are plenty of independent shops, cafes and restaurants.
Hampstead including a walk on the heath with views over London.
Little Venice, which is nothing like Venice!
Greenwich including a visit to the market and the Royal Observatory.
A walk round the Marylebone area and finish in Regents Park.
Easy peasy. Agree with Mike J.
Start at the Tower Hill tube station and walk up to the
Leadenhall marketplace the last glass covered market in London. If you can, stop in at St Olaves church in route.
As you approach Leadenhall You will find an intriguing dichotomy between modern looking buildings (Lloyd’s of London, and in the distance The Gherkin ) and the hidden market place.
From there walk up Bishopgate road and over to Spitafields then meander over to and about Brick Lane.
Lots of eye candy. Food stalls. Street art. Fun day out.
If you do the south bank walk, stop by Borough Market and check out all the food stalls. Crowds won’t be too bad if you go early.
