I am looking for travel tips for the Midlands region of the UK--trip will include a few days in Liverpool, but interested in suggestions for interesting things to do, places to see, accommodations, means of travel, etc. in other parts of UK Midlands region.
The midlands is centred around Birmingham. Liverpool isn’t in the midlands, it’s the north west. Do you want recommendations for the Liverpool area or the Midlands?
Chester is an obvious place to link with Liverpool.
Liverpool isn't in the Midlands.
Do you mean the East Midlands or the West Midlands?
It is a large and diverse area - perhaps some ideas of what appeals to you, special interests, time of year, length of trip, physical requirements, size of group, experiences in other parts of England - so we have a bit of an idea where to throw the darts.
Right now your question is too vague for me to be able to do it justice.
Why do you want to visit cities like Birmingham and Liverpool?
Chester is a good choice, but there are other areas of Britain that would be better, like Yorkshire, the Cotswolds, Lake District, South or North Wales, Durham. Cornwall, Devon and SW England.
Thanks for the useful information about Midlands region. Trip will include Liverpool, but then we plan to travel in the Midlands region.
If you want to see how I spent 4 nights in Liverpool (including a day trip to Chester) and 2 nights in Manchester, here's my detailed trip report - just skip past the Glasgow sections: https://community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/trip-reports/uk-trip-report-glasgow-manchester-liverpool-in-september-2016
For better responses, tell us what you want to see in the Midlands (small towns, cities, stately homes, museums, etc), and whether or not you will have a car.
