I don't know if anyone on here uses the long distance bus (coach) operations of Megabus but this announcement has been made today-
Megabus is to scale back its operations in England and Wales due to low passenger demand. From 4 December, all domestic services in England will cease to operate, with arrangements to be put in place for customers who have already booked tickets. Megabus will continue to operate services entirely within Scotland, under both the Scottish Citylink and Megabus brands, all cross-border services between Scotland and England and Wales, and all Falcon services in the south-west of England. All other English services will cease to operate from 4 December.
This will leave the duo of National Express and the fast expanding Flixbus in England.
The Falcon, by the way, is a 24/7 service between Bristol, Bristol Airport and Plymouth with various stops in Somerset and Devon on the way. It is run with the distinctive yellow painted buses of the Stagecoach 'distance' fleet which are a very familiar sight throughout Scotland.
It is the end of an era in English coaching, but they no longer had a distinctive market, having been squeezed out by Flixbus with lower fares.
